 Why is it important to read current affairs?    

Current Affairs refer to the events of national and international importance relevant from competitive exams perspective like Civil Services Exam, Bank exam, etc. With the change in the pattern of examinations, questions related to current events and news have assumed a major role in deciding the fate of students



1) US Defence Secretary Lloyd J Austin III arrived in New Delhi on a three-day visit to India.
👉 India and the US have been working closely with each other after the Chinese attempts to change the status quo in the eastern Ladakh area in April-May last year.
👉The US side also helped by providing timely defence hardware supplies during the conflict apart from sharing important satellite feed and inputs.

3) The Lok Sabha passed a Bill to amend the Mines and Mineral (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act) through a voice vote, with Mines Minister Pralhad Joshi stating that the amendments will create jobs and allow private players with enhanced technology into the mining sector.

9) Russian scientists launched one of the world's biggest underwater space telescopes to peer deep into the universe from the pristine waters of Lake Baikal. 
👉 The deep underwater telescope, which has been under construction since 2015, is designed to observe neutrinos, the smallest particles currently known.

13) India will propose a law banning cryptocurrencies, fining anyone trading in the country or even holding such digital assets.

👉If the ban becomes law, India would be the first major economy to make holding cryptocurrency illegal. Even China, which has banned mining and trading, does not penalise possession.

14) World Water Day, held on 22 March every year since 1993, focuses on the importance of freshwater. 

👉The  theme of World Water Day is "Valuing Water" this year. This target will extend beyond concerns of cost to include the environmental and socio-cultural value placed on water resources. World Water Day 2021, is about what water means to people, it's value and how we can protect this essential life resource.
